Free November 2013 Mobile Shredder Events for Westchester County Residents

As the holiday season approaches, I thought this would be a good time to remind everyone of the importance of properly disposing of your personal & confidential documents such as:

  • Expired credit card statements and receipts
  • Old tax returns or any other personal documents containing you name, address or other identifying information.
  • Pre-approved credit card applications
  • Licenses

With identity theft being one of the fastest growing crimes in the nation - Westchester County provides a great service and solution for area residents by hosting free, local, mobile shredding events at various locations throughout the County.
November 2013 Mobile Shredder Events
Date Day Time         Town Location
11/9 Sat. 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.         Greenburgh 177 Hillside Ave.
11/16 Sat. 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.         Yonkers 1100 Nepperhan
11/23 Sat. 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.         New Rochelle
515 North Ave.Police Dept.

As the date and location of these events will change throughout the year - you can find upcoming events posted monthly on the Westchester Real Estate Review.  This will give you time to plan and prepare your personal documents for easy shredding at the next event.

As noted on the Westchester.gov website, each household is allowed to bring up to 4 file-size (10”x12”x15”) boxes of confidential papers for shredding, service is provided on a first-come-first-served basis.
In extreme weather, when working conditions are deemed unsafe, events may be cancelled or terminated early. Be advised that on occasion, the Mobile Shredder unit can reach its maximum capacity for paper shredding before closing time. Although infrequent, residents should be aware of this and open minded of the possibility of an early closure.
On the day of an event, residents can call the county's Recycling Helpline at (914) 813-5425 to check on a cancellation or early closure.

So come on out and recycle, shred your personal documents and protect yourself against identity theft.  Let's help keep Westchester Green & your identity safe.
